Spotlight: Downing Film Center
Since its opening day July 22nd 2006,
The Downing Film Center has been a wonderful addition to the growing arts & cultural scene of the City of Newburgh. Located on Front Street in the
Yellow Bird Gallery, you can now catch a movie after eating at one of the restaurants on the waterfront.
Specializing in independent, foreign, and classic cinema, The Downing brings all your senses to life as you soak in the best the film world has to offer side-by-side with the best sculpture, drawing, and painting the art world has to offer. Forget bloated blockbusters, cheesy comedies, and stale sequels — at The Downing, film, art, and experience become one.
This establishment is the realization of the longtime dream of Newburgh resident Brian Burke. Brians' love of film began as a child spending many hours at the Irving Theatre in Carbondale Pennsylvania. And now with the help of his family, we all get to experience great film along side with the Burke family.
