Spotlight : Shade Tree commission

The City of Newburgh
Shade Tree Commission "was formed in 1998 to protect and encourage street tree health, maintenance and beauty". Currently, there are over 2,500 street trees in Newburgh, not counting the trees in the parks or on public open land.
Some of the commission activities include our designation as a "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation in order to help apply for tree replanting grants. In the area of education, there are the Citizen Pruner training classes and a forum to discuss urban forestry issues.
On display will be photo's of various Shade Tree projects. For the kid's will be handouts with word search and crossword puzzles.
